How To Make Blogger Blog Look Like a Website

Blogger is a free platform for making free blogs. It comes up with a lot of great features that help to organize your blog by just drag-and-drop method. Some people ask questions about it like: How they can make their Blogger blog look like a website?

This is the same question that took place in my mind when I initially started using Blogger.

Making Blogspot Seem like a Website

The First step you need to take is to select an eye-catching Blogger Template. You can buy a premium one from ThemeForest if you afford to. Otherwise, download a free theme from any trusted website like Templateism and Sora-Templates.

I recommend never to use an official template by Blogger because they are old-fashioned and Non-Responsive. You might know that almost 40% of people use their smartphones to surf the web and secondly Google is now taking mobile friendliness as an important ranking factor.

Before selecting a template, you need to define your goals in your mind i.e. how your website should look like? and do you want a one-page website or any other style. Almost every type of Blogger templates are available on the internet for Free.

After selecting a theme, move to the Second step: "Installation of Template".

Templates are often packed up in zip files. You can use any zip manager like Winrar for extraction. After that, find a .xml file from the package because that is the main file that you have to upload to Blogger.

Buy a Custom Domain Name

When you create a Blogger blog, you get a free sub-domain like yoursitename.blogspot.com. This is actually called sub-domain and it doesn't look professional. So, my recommendation is to buy a custom domain like .com .net .org etc.

Some years ago, Google has included the option of setting up a custom domain instead of sub-domains but it'll cost you some bucks. You can register a .com domain from any popular registrar like Godaddy and Namecheap for upto $10/year, and set it up on your blog.

Adding Essential Widgets To Sidebar

You might have seen widgets like popular posts, Facebook page, Subscribe us etc. on different websites. You can also add them in a minute or two. Simply go to Layout section, choose the right area where you wanna insert, click "Add a Gadget" and select one from the list of scores of useful widgets. That's it!
